The farm has free car parking which is close to all the amenities, and approximately 130 metres from the Hides.
Car alarms – please do not enable your car alarm. It can be quite breezy on the farm and this can sometimes trigger alarms to go off, which will deter the kites from coming down to feed.
Disabled visitors may park adjacent to the Hides upon request.
The farmyard is tarmac coated.
There is a disabled toilet located on the farmyard.
Unfortunately, due to the restrictions of the farm buildings, we are limited for space.
The indoor seating area of the café is located upstairs in a barn and, as such, is not suitable for disabled access, although we have plenty of outdoor ‘under cover’ seating options.
Space is also a little restricted in the gift shop.
Due to the uneven terrain the farm trail is not suitable for wheelchairs.
We welcome coaches and large groups and have suitable parking.
Coaches must be booked in advance.
FOOD AND DRINK
There is a coffe shop which offers a range of delicious cakes, snacks, hot and cold drinks.
We have outdoor and ‘under-cover’ seating options, along with a limited number of tables inside (please note that due to the restrictions of the farm buildings the indoor seating is located upstairs and, as such, is not suitable for wheelchair access).
We are able to offer catering for large groups if booked in advance.
You are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy. The picnic area provides fantastic views of the surrounding area.
The shop offers a range of red kite and bird souvenirs, binoculars, telescopes, plus a range of gifts (including bespoke umbrellas, clothing, rugs and throws, picnic baskets, walking sticks, stick seats, books, toys, cards and many more items).
Male and female toilets, plus a disabled toilet. Located near to the cafe/shop.
Dogs are welcome to the red kite centre but on leads only.
There is a 1.5 mile farm trail which offers fantastic views of the Elan Valley and the Cambrian hills. The trail is hilly and uneven underfoot in in parts so sturdy footwear is advised. The trail is not suitable for pushchairs or for the infirm.
There are no cycle paths. There are resting points. There are two ponds which support a variety of wildlife (children must be supervised at all times).
We welcome families.
PLEASE BE AWARE
This is a working farm with livestock and equipment on the site; children must be supervised at all times. While the main public areas of the farmyard is tarmaced, other areas include grass and gravel, which may become slippery or muddy at times, so suitable footwear is advised.
There are birds (peacocks, guinea fowl, chickens) and other animals (guinea pigs, cats, dogs, donkeys and sheep) on the farm, these animals must not be chased or taunted. If you touch any animals or their pen you you must wash your hands.
