Flying the Kite Trust flag
Two active supporters of the Trust, Michael Atherton and David Knight, as well as devoting time to nest monitoring in the Rhandirmwyn area, kindly offered to man a display stall for the Trust at the Great West Bird Fair at Slimbridge on the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of February. Bill Oddie, one of the Trust's patrons, officially opened the Fair.

Despite atrocious weather conditions Michael and David succeeded in recruiting several new "Friends of the Welsh Kite" and sold a good quantity of Welsh Kite Trust cards. Michael has previously run stalls for the Trust at various venues in the S. E. England with great success, our sincere thanks to them both for their efforts.
'Friends of the Welsh Kite'
Number of registered sponsors tops 1,000 mark
The number of registered 'Friends of the Welsh Kite' (counting joint and family subscriptions as a single registration) broke through the 1,000 barrier on 1st March 2002 when Mrs. M. Makepeace of Cardiff joined the scheme. Mrs. Makepeace was presented with a signed copy of Ian Carter's monograph on the Red Kite in commemoration of the event. The 1,000 registrations are all those received since the scheme started in 1996 and it is particularly pleasing to report that we have an extremely good annual renewal rate - nearly 700 of those subscribers are still current. I would like to thank all those who have supported the scheme, both past and present, and hope sincerely that we can continue to attract supporters in the future.

Help required - If you have enjoyed your sponsorship why not recommend us to a family member, friend or colleague. If every current 'Friend of the Welsh Kite' recruited just one other the Trust would be in a really strong position and able to devote much more to the conservation, monitoring and research of these magnificent birds.
